Black Sex Matters featuring Kia Labeija

February 18, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - February 19, 2017 @ 1:00 am

Where Black means good, liberated, & outside the gaze of oppressive power structures | ALL ARE WELCOME

VIP Cocktail Hour from 6pm-7pm includes open bar, intimate DJ set, & special performances. Your $20 ticket purchase helps support Breathing Room, an arts, healing, and organizing hub for Black liberation on Chicago’s south side.

Black Sex Matters is blazing into 2017 with what is sure to be the hottest party yet. Hosted by powerhouse Nikki Patin and featuring Kia LaBeija, a steamy line-up of DJs, live painting, body painting, cocktails, and more, this is the event of the year you will never forgive yourself if you miss.

Kia LaBeija is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in the heart of New York City’s theatre district, Hellz Kitchen. Her work explores the intersections of community, politics, fine art and activism.

Black Sex Matters is an event series celebrating sensuality and pleasure in liberation struggles serving as a fundraiser for arts activism. Ticket & bar sales will be split between the #LetUsBreathe Collective’s Breathing Room rehab – an arts, healing, and organizing hub on Chicago’s south side – and a nonprofit org doing work that centers sexual safety and wellness for Black and brown folks.

This special edition of Black Sex Matters is presented in partnership with the Alphawood Foundation and the Art AIDS America exhibit. It will also feature performances by

JuJu Minx
McKenzie Chinn
Elleven Nicole
Blake Novia
Nic Kay
Jordy Marilyn
& more

with DJ All The Way Kay & Cqqchifruit

PLUS a special afterparty from 10pm-1am with DJ Rae Chardonnay of Party Noire presented by #PrEP4Love, a citywide social marketing campaign that features real models from the city of Chicago that shows how Chicagoans can love, explore, and touch freely because of #PrEP, a pill taken once a day to prevent #HIV.
